We are looking for a number of Embedded Software (Test) Engineer to join our team. This is not a role for just a pure software test engineer but also for an embedded software engineer because you will have to develop applications for satellite simulator and test environment. You will become part of a growing software Verification and Validation (V&V) group responsible for ensuring software quality across a range of embedded and high performance applications in space. The main objective of your work will be developing test environments setup and designing and developing of HIL satellite simulator, improving the V&V infrastructure to enable the simulation of new sensors and actuators. The job will also focus on automated test procedures for the flight software of avionic platforms used on board of our spacecrafts under development. Within a continuous integration environment, you will contribute to the entire application lifecycle with a focus on the test and integration, improving and developing new V&V features to our SW delivery pipeline. Through these activities and by working with the all technical teams involved in the spacecraft development process you will deliver exciting new features and directly support on-going spacecraft V&V activities and operations. Tasks and Responsibilities: - Software development of HIL infrastructure components (e.g. satellite sensors and actuators mockups) - Validation of features including integration with software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop test suites - Test scenarios definitions against embedded software requirements - Contribute to the entire application lifecycle, focusing on requirements verification and validation, debugging and integration of flight software with the flight hardware - Preparation of flight software V&V technical documentation - Contributing to the continuous improvement of the teams processes, methodologies and test framework - Support to satellite AIV activities Key technical skills: - At least 1 year of industry experience in embedded software or relevant project work (also at university level) - Knowledge of any typically embedded communication interfaces such as RS232, RS485, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet - Experience in design, develop and delivering embedded software in any C-family (C/C++) language - Very good knowledge of Python language - Very good knowledge of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) - Good familiarity with common design patterns used in OOP - Good familiarity with Git versioning system or any similar DVCS - Good familiarity with using any Linux-based distribution and appreciation of application development Other skills: - Experience with test-driven development - Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively - Capability of working in autonomy - Resilience and ability to work in a fast-paced environment - Ability to work hard in a team setting to meet tight schedules Nice-to-have skills: - Understanding of SW design and testing lifecycle in regulated environment (ideally ECSS standard) - Knowledge of real-time operating systems (such as RTEMS or FreeRTOS) and/or operating systems targeted for embedded applications (such as any embedded Linux) - Familiarity with typical software development methodology and release versioning processes - Experience in defining software system specifications and software requirements - Experience in debugging embedded software using standard laboratory equipment Education: Bachelor, or higher degree, in any relevant area such as software engineering, computer science, physics, automation engineering, electronic engineering, aerospace engineering. Language: This role requires professional proficiency in English. Extra-UE applicants: This is NOT a full remote job, so you need VISA to work in Italy. D-Orbit is hiring a senior systems engineer to join our growing systems engineering team. As an integral part of the group, you will be responsible of the customization of already flight-qualified platforms, such as the ION Satellite Carrier Vehicle, and the design of new advanced missions. Your ultimate objective as a systems engineer is to ensure your systems, the spacecraft, will fly safely to orbit, deliver the services required by mission objectives and eventually successfully accomplish its disposal. Main Duties will consist of · Coordinate other systems and specialist engineers, following and consolidating the end-to-end design and development cycle of the systems platforms, starting the requirements capture and consolidating requirements as development progresses, trade-off analysis, systems architecture and design definition, definition of the verification and test campaign, test plan and procedures, supervising execution of the tests on first prototypes and final requirements compliance assessment. · Interface with the Program Manager to support planning and management task. · Coordinate with the Procurement team to support in the procurement process of test and flight parts. · Coordinate with the manufacturing team and the AIV team for the definition of the test plan, procedures, setup and execution, monitor AIV progresses and maintain the requirement compliance matrix updated accordingly. · Interface with the Flight Operations team to support the definition of the detailed ConOps, mission timeline, operations plan definition and procedures, and provide active support during the first flight operations. Tasks and Responsibilities: - Technical responsible for the overall spacecraft or mission. - Actively contribute and monitor the development of systems architecture and subsystems design. - Coordinate multidisciplinary teams of specialists working on the systems and s/s design. - Systems and subsystems budgeting. - Requirements capturing & management from Stakeholder to equipment level. - AIV plan definition and execution with the support of the AIV team. - Support the systems test plan, procedures, and setup definition. - Authoring of Technical documents. Professional Experience: · We are interested in speaking to people with a minimum of five years of experience working in the field of Spacecraft design and development. D-Orbit is looking for a Hardware Product Assurance Engineer to join our Product Assurance Team. As a Hardware Product Assurance Engineer, you will work in a young and dynamic environment, on activities that will span from the EEE parts Quality Management with internal and external stakeholders (customers and/or suppliers) to the involvement in the materials and processes reviews ensuring that the components and their assembly process comply with program requirements. Key Responsibilities: · Establishes requirements on EEE parts quality management on the assigned programs in accordance with company standards. · Guarantee the conformity of EEE and related materials and processes to requirements of the assigned programs. · Be the interface with internal/external customers and/or suppliers for all aspects related to EEE components. · Issue and maintain EEE parts documents according to milestones of the assigned programs. · Take part, as relevant contributor, to EEE parts dedicated meetings. · Manage EEE parts NCRs and related NRBs as chairperson. · Contributes to the definition of design solutions to comply with new-space sector requirements. We are looking for a candidate to join our Hardware Engineering team and actively follow board and System Electronic design. Deal with Electronic design from requirements definition to schematic entry. Support the System, Manufacturing and Mechanical engineering teams throughout the full product development life-cycle, supporting PCB outline, component placement and routing process. Follow technical data exchange with suppliers and support manufacturing during board assembly and test. Participate to other HW Engineering activities involving requirements definition, electrical design, verification and testing. Tasks Senior Hardware Engineer duties include: - Integrate electronic subsystems into the overall spacecraft design, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless functionality. - Be responsible for the design of electronic boards from requirements to schematic definition, procedure management and test coordination. - Be responsible of coordination with other departments to evaluate and assess implications of other systems/subsystems on avionics. - Lead PCB outline, layer setup, component placement and signal routing requirements for Power, Digital and Mixed-Signals applications. - Lead interface with PCB services suppliers. - Keep up with and know industry and space standards and technologies. - Work with Hardware Engineers and the manufacturing team for the development and sustaining of current products. - Maintain detailed documentation of system designs, specifications, and test results to comply with company standards and regulatory requirements. - Identify and select appropriate electronic components for new space applications, considering factors such as radiation tolerance, power efficiency, and durability for use in space environments. Qualifications and Requirements - Work experience of at least 5 years in Electronic design(with at least 2 of which in the space/avionics industries). - Experience with Altium designer tool. - Experience with Spice simulation tool. - Experienced with state-of-the-art PCB design tools and methodology. - Proficient with high-speed, mixed-signal and power conversion design. - Proficient in using electronic lab instruments (oscilloscope, multimeter, spectrum analyzer, power supply, electronic load, etc.) - Knowledge of common electronic interfaces like CAN, SPI, I2C, RS-422, RS-485, Space-Wire, and MIL-1553. - Proficient with common ECSS standard electronic analyses like PSA, WCA and FMEA/FMECA. - A self-starter and highly motivated with strong organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; - Proactive attitude and ability to work in team and individually; - Knowledge of ECSS standard EMC and Sys design, - Knowledge of Space Power and Avionic Unit architecture, - Knowledge of FPGA, microcontroller and SoC architecture is a plus. - Knowledge of RF systems is a plus.
