la qualità di stampa è molto buona, i colori sono realistici sia su carta normale, sia su carta fotografica glossy. La stampa del testo è all’altezza della fama di HP: la qualità è equiparabile a quella di una stampante laser. Le scansioni hanno una temperatura leggermente più tenue, ma sono più che accettabili. La Photosmart 5520 utilizza un sistema di inchiostro a quattro cartucce. I costi sono in realtà abbastanza bassi per una stampante multifunzione di questa fascia di prezzo, a patto di utilizzare le cartucce ad alta capacità (XL). La cartuccia n.364 nero standard costa poco meno di €15 e stampa 250 pagine (6 centesimi di Euro per pagina), mentre quella standard a colori ciano, magenta e giallo costano €7,22 ciascuna e durano 300 pagine (2,4 centesimi di Euro per pagina). Una pagina a quattro colori viene a costare 13,22 centesimi di Euro, un po’ meno della media.
