An impressive and full restoration by a team of highly skilled and meticulous wooden boat builders has resulted in a gleaming classic that is now in structurally excellent condition and the envy all who sail with her. This exquisite Dragon has a very successful racing record, having won local and national races (including Cowes week) when owned and helmed by Eric Williams during the 1990s and early 2000s. Then based in the Solent, she was always found in the front of the local fleet which numbered some 30 Dragons. “Dragonfly” was built in 1969 by Børresens Bådebyggeri, Vjile, Denmark, build number K453 and launched as “Menace”. Dragonfly still needs her rigging and internal running systems ‘fitting out’ which can be tailored to individual specifications and therefore at the buyers expense. Estimated complete fit out cost approx. £5,000 or can be customised to upgrade to any level of enhanced system as specified by the purchaser. Advice from some of the top Dragon racers is available on request for works to be planned and executed accordingly. PLEASE NOTE: The vendor is selling in the course of business and the asking price is inclusive of VAT.

Santo Stefano Belbo (Piemonte)
Katja was launched in England on August 15th, 1929, the year of the Wall Street crash in America and the beginning of the Great Depression that was soon to assail Europe. She survived the destruction of the Second World War after taking part in Operation Dynamo as a Little Ship, one of the 800 civilian vessels that evacuated hundreds of thousands of Allied soldiers from Dunkirk in 1940. Katja is a 14.7 meter long motoryacht, designed by H. Parker and built of wood by the Brooke shipyard in Lowestoft. She is still in perfect condition thanks to the doting care of her four owners, two English and two Italian, the latest since the early 1990’s. Katja was built for Mawdesley Brooke, the owner of the yard that launched her in 1929, and was named for one of his daughters. The yard’s roots stretch back to 1874 when Brooke Ironworks, specialized in engines, began activity in Oulton Broad, near Lowestoft. Renamed Brooke Motorcraft between the wars, the firm was managed by Waveney Brooke until after the end of World War II. Katja’s first main engine was a 100 hp, six cylinder Brooke N°4059 type 40 F diesel, with a 5 hp Brooke “Dominion” as auxiliary propulsion. In 1931 she was sold to a new owner in Leicester for £ 2,875. Based for a period in Great Yarmouth, 200 km north of London and only 15 km from Lowestoft, in 1950 she traveled through the French canals down to the Mediterranean, flying the white ensign as a Dunkirk Little Ship. Katja welcomed the change from the misty English coasts to the mild climate of the Mediterranean. In 1967 she was given a new main engine, a 145 hp Perkins T6354, and a new 30 hp Mercedes auxiliary. In the early 1990’s she was purchased by a new owner from Rome, who sailed her in the Tyrrhenian from Tuscany’s Porto Santo Stefano. Sailing from her new base, Katja participated in classic yacht events in Montecarlo, La Spezia, Bocca di Magra and Anzio.   REFITS AND AWARDS  In recent years Katja has undergone several refits in Tuscan yards; Lacchini, and then Mileo. Founded by Constabile Mileo in 1951, the Mileo yard was known for their continuous production of dozens of wooden vessels. In 2003 the yard, run by the Mileo brothers Pompeo, Vincenzo and Domenico, began a major refit. The 25mm pitch pine planking below the waterline was replaced, with 8/9 meter long planks attached to oak frames with steel screws. The keelson was rebuilt to increase purchase for elements of the new frames, tightly fit between the keel and the stem. The hull was caulked in the traditional manner with calico, then faired and painted. The keel and stem, both of oak, are original. A new main engine (Perkins 240hp) combined with a four-bladed propeller, gives Katja a top speed of 12 knots. Other major jobs included fitting a bow-thruster, rebuilding the teak deck incorporating a layer of plywood, redoing the hydraulic and electrical systems and fuel lines, and replacing the wheel with a new hydraulic control. Remote steering is also set up, allowing Katjato be run from on deck while underway. The auxiliary motor was upgraded to an 80hp Perkins, with a folding propellor to port, giving her a respectable six knots. All this care lavished on Katja couldn’t pass unnoticed, and during the 1992 Monaco Classic Week she was awarded 156 out of 210 possible points, putting her at the top of the ASDEC classification. The ‘Associazione Scafi d’Epoca e Classici’ has been protecting and diffusing the culture of classic and vintage yachting since 1987.   “Her topsides have sleek and very elegant lines - a gentle joining of the deckhouses to their pavilions, a smooth transition between deck levels, with the aft deckhouse windows that follow the sinuous curve of the sheer, the handrails that gradually run lower as they approach the bow and the side deck that curves towards the coachroof. It all denotes the execution of an excellent design by a renowned boatyard.” This quote from the early 1990’s by Piero Maria Gibellini, one of the world’s authorities on motor yachts and auxiliaries, refers to Katja. Her present owner, after almost thirty years of cruising Katja, cannot but emphasize how well laid out she is, with many separate spaces to enjoy even when there are many aboard. The foredeck is a terrace over the sea, one of her strongpoints. It gives privacy when moored stern to, and there’s always fresh air even on the hottest days. A sturdy awning covers the foredeck, with it’s two chaise longue (originally from the ocean liner Conte Biancamano; launched in 1925, she was sent to the wrecking yard in 1961), table and benches for up to ten guests. Two sun pads are laid above the aft coachroof and the wheelhouse. A true gangway is mounted to starboard, for ease of embarking and disembarking.   INTERIORS AND THE BAGLIETTO TENDER  Katja’s refined interiors make her a welcoming and comfortable yacht. The fine finishings, from the wainscoting to the cabin cabinetry, plus the paintings and vintage gouaches in the owner’s cabin, all combine to remind you of the Orient Express and send you back in time. She has seven berths: two in the owner’s cabin forward, two in the guest cabin, and three from the seating in the main cabin – one twin and one single berth. Katja’s vintage launch is a work of art. Built of wood in 1934 by the Baglietto yard in Varazze, she still has her original oars and oarlocks. Katja also comes with an inflatable with a 9.9 hp outboard.   Declinazione di responsabilità La Società pubblica i dettagli di questa imbarcazione in buona fede e non può pertanto avvallare o garantire l'esattezza di tale informazione...Read full description

RIVAL 41 C ‘TEXION’The Rival 41C was designed by Peter Brett and built by the Southern Boatbuilding Company (Southampton, UK) to the highest quality and safety standards, Lloyds 100A1 class. The sail area versus displacement ratio suggests that the Rivel 41C will, in the right conditions, readily approach her maximum hull speed and satisfy the sailing performance expectations of cruising sailors. The ballast versus displacement ratio means that the Rival 41C will stand up well to her canvas in a blow, helping her to power through the waves. A displacement vs length ratio tells us the Rival 41C is a heavy displacement cruising boat, you can load her down with all your cruising gear and equipment, and it will hardly affect the waterline. The comfort ratio of the Rival 41C in a seaway is excellent. Her motion through the waves is slow and predictable. The heeling is such that the decks stay dry, except for some splash water in caseof heavy seas. The capsize screening formula tells us that the Rival 41C is very safe for ocean passage sailing. The keel is incorporated in the S shaped bottom hull, which is a very safe design. To the owner’s experience, the best sailing performance of a Rival 41C is close to the wind, approx. 30°. In a blow of 7 Beaufort, with a reef in the main sail, she ploughs through the waves at the speed of 7,5 knots. Half-wind and downwind sailing with a backstay wind is very comfortable, with good speed and easy steering. Cruising downwind at 180°, she needs at least 10 knots of apparent wind to keep the course steady with the wind vane. Sailingdownwind in very light airs requires some attention, but the Code Zero sail will keep the yacht moving. It is the owner’s experience that a few degrees off course steering in this particular condition makes passage-making comfortable and easy. The present owner, for 28 years, made passages of more than 200 miles per day in a force 8-9, with speeds through the water between 6-11 knots in big waves. The steering remained very easy by hand, using the electronic autopilot or the wind vane. Despite high breaking waves, no water was coming on the deck, even not behind the aft cabin. She was not running off the rudder. There was no condition where the yacht couldn’t keep her course.Like a train on the tracks, the yacht remained on her rump line. The present owner bought the Rival 41C in 1995 from an English surgeon who maintained her meticulously. Since he acquired the yacht, he has made yearly investments in maintenance to the highest standards and upgrades: (1) new teak deck (2013), (2) new rigging and stow away mast (2013), (3) 220V generator, (4) complete set of Raymarine instruments and communication system, (5) all the electrics, wiring, switches and dashboard have been replaced, (6) a new Mitsubishi engine was installed in 2014 and again rebuilt in 2022, replacing all the gaskets and pumps, (7) an electric cooker was installed as well as (8) a 3-bladed feathering* VarioProp (9) a powerful bow thruster was installed and (10) new upholstery of the cushionsand seats. Every winter season, the yacht has been placed out of the water on the hard. All the cushions, sails, and ropes have been stored in a dry room during winter. This Rival 41 c is now berthed in Antwerp - Belgium. The Rival 41C Texion is very easy to sail; all the lines to manipulate the main sail and foresails are let to the cockpit. Unrolling and reducing sail area can therefore be done easily and safely. The Rival Texion sailed the Mediterranean, went around the UK, crossed the Atlantic Ocean, and sailed the last four years between the nine islands of the Azores. She was sailed back to Antwerp, without trouble from the Azores during summer 2024.The main remarkable aspects of the yacht are the safe cockpit, her beautiful shear lines, together with the quality of the gel coat of the rump, the cockpit and the deck without cracks. She looks great. When moored in a harbour, the yacht gets a lot of attention from sailors and people walking close by because of her immaculate state. A full specification sheet and a file with 87 photos are available upon request.

Ex- steamship now in online auction. Anyone can bid until June 19, 2023 The UNION IV is an extraordinary boat with a rich history and unique features. At 136 years old, she is a unique sight on the water and ashore. This boat has had several functions during her long life. Originally, the UNION IV was used as a steam turntable, equipped with a powerful 150 hp triple compound steam engine. Later she was converted to a turntable vessel with a crude oil glow head engine (ABC 60 hp) and then as a motor freighter on a fixed route with the same engine. In her next phase, she served as a motor freighter in free navigation, equipped with a 120 hp Moës diesel engine. Then the boat was transformed into a church ship sailing through Flanders, powered by a GM Detroit diesel engine of 165 hp. Finally, the UNION IV became a sailing monument, a combination living and working boat, powered by a 200-hp ABC 3MDX diesel engine. The boat has a teardrop-built hull, making her very fast and easy to maneuver. Her sailing characteristics are remarkable, as she always starts without problems and sails smoothly. She listens well to the steering system and can sail in reverse almost as fast as forward. The vessel has little propeller action in reverse. In addition, the UNION IV has a very distinctive sound, which makes her extra recognizable. The vessel is beautifully finished with many ornate details, and the riveted mast tube with the hoisting mast and two booms always attracts many spectators. One of the most memorable moments with the UNION IV is its restoration. With great pleasure the mast tube, mast, booms, the installation of the ABC engine and the new wheelhouse were restored. In addition, the events the boat sailed to have also been highlights. Sailing the boat to various events, surrounded by nice people and with everything on board, was a great experience. The boat always attracted a lot of interest and admiration. Today, the owner still enjoys life on board every day, in the midst of nature yet close to the city. With the sale of the boat comes also the transferable permanent mooring with all amenities. This includes natural gas, electricity (380V, 3x25A), water, a sewage connection, an 18m² Azobe decking, a 120m² garden, a terrace and a luxury guest house. These additional amenities may affect the price of the boat. The UNION IV is in very good condition and was last taken out of the water for maintenance in 2017. “Grietje” is a wonderfully looked after original sailing Dutch Tjalk that has been converted into a two/three bedroom liveaboard. Built in 1898 by DREWS HOOGEZAND as a working vessel, she is an originally riveted iron hull that has been fully over platted with 6mm steel. The vessel has been drydocked in 2021, with a full 35,000 PSI blast/strip back to a WJ2 standard. She then went through a full ultrasonic underwater survey, steel welding repairs completed, full suite of 14 new anodes and finally coated with a 10 year 2pac epoxy International paint system meaning she does not need to be re slipped until 2031. The bilges have also been cleaned and resealed from the interior.  She is sold with a complete 2021 boat survey (as well as survey/service history dating back to 2004) and also the option to take on the mooring at the Embankment Marina, Gravesend. With a keenness to keep the original lines of such a beautiful vessel, the only detraction from the original specification of the build is the fully collapsible wheel house at the stern. Outside of this, the original rigging, sails, deck equipment, mast, lee boards are all accounted for and in working order. The deck coaming has also been raised slightly to allow generous head room in the living area, but not so much it detracts from the lines.  She also comes fitted with a DAF 6 cylinder 195 HP engine that was serviced at the beginning of 2021 and was used to transport her from Gravesend to Hoo to be slipped and back again without missing a beat. The external topsides and coach roof have also benefited from full repaint recently so she is looking extremely pretty! Internally, the barge has received a full renovation using proper insulation covered over with painted marine moisture resistant ply. Coming down from the wheel house you come into an area affectionally known as the skippers cabin that could be used as an utility space or a home office or children’s play room. A new bathroom with full height stand up shower is on your right as you move through the boat and a toilet with a heated seat! Moving further on, a fully renovated kitchen sold with all white goods including a washing machine, full size gas double oven and hobs, plenty of storage space leading into  a wide open plan saloon living area. The saloon benefits from beautiful brass port holes and authentic brass skylights leaving the saloon area flooded with natural light. Forward of the mast step there is option of fitting in another bedroom before finally coming to the master cabin with has a built in queen size bed. The barge is warmed by an oil based boiler that takes it’s feed from the fuel tank, and with 11 radiators in the system leaves the living space toasty warm even in the coldest winter months. It also benefits from a beautifully ornate log burner in the main saloon. Grietje has been in our family since 2006, and took part in the 2012 Queen’s River Thames Pageant as one of the oldest boats on the river Thames. She has been very well looked after and cared for, and is ready to be moved onto straight away we look forward to passing over this fantastic piece of history. Madiz is one of a few yachts to have survived from the early 20th century, and arguably there is no other yacht of this size, age, and original standing remaining. Madiz was built in 1902 by Ailsa Shipbuilding in Troon, Scotland, and at 55.4m is the largest classic motor yacht currently listed for sale. Madiz can also claim the title of the oldest vessel in operation to have Lloyd’s classification. Originally commissioned by James Coates Jnr, from his friend and now legendary yacht designer G L. Watson, Madiz was intended as something of a mothership or support boat to Coates’ sizable schooner-rigged sailing yacht. With the outbreak of World War I, Madiz was taken by the Royal Navy and she served in the Auxiliary Patrol Service. The vessel was returned to pleasure yachting in 1920 and passed through the hands of several British yachtsmen. But it was not long before she was again called to naval service. Post-World War II, the yacht was acquired by the Hon. John North, second son of the 8th Earl of Guilford and with Madiz, he headed for the Mediterranean In 1968, North decided to sell the yacht and she was laid up in Piraeus until she inspired Greek businessman Costas Keletsekis to become her owner. Keletsekis equipped Madiz with new engines and refitted the boat in 2003 to bring her back into class with Lloyds Register 40 years later, in 2010, Madiz was acquired by her current owners and has been lovingly cared for as an icon of classic yachting style. Whilst she has evolved somewhat over her incredible 120-year history, many original features remain Today, this steel-hulled motor yacht is powered by two Mercedes 250Hp engines and has accommodation for 14 guests in seven cabins. Madiz typically runs with a crew of 10 and is served by a 6m Riva Superflorida tender as well as a 6m classic launch.

This Nautor's Swan 82 FD /"Grey Goose/" is the perfect combination of performance cruising, easy and safe boat handling with a shorthanded crew and blue water sailing capability. While mostly being used as a fast cruiser, Grey Goose can be easily converted to an aggressive Maxi Cruiser Racer and perform in any race, inshore and offshore. As the current owner is very competitive, he started to improve Grey Goose soon after participating in his first Transatlantic and Swan Maxi regattas. German Frers, the designer of the Swan 82, was tasked to design a new keel, which brought down the center of gravity, improved acceleration, pointing angles and slot keeping dramatically, balancing the boat perfectly in the water. A new rudder was fitted, and the hull was faired with long boards to have the perfect hydrodynamics. The rod rigging was replaced by Future Fibres PBO, standing rigging, which has been replaced by EC6standing rigging in 2012. In 2016 a new Hall Spars high modulus carbon fibre mast (same dimensions as her original mast) has been installed with four low profile spreaders, giving more strength and reducing weight by approx. another 350 kg. Increasing the righting moment significantly, the new mast has made a considerable improvement in upwind and overall performance. To improve safety and performance, the new mast was fitted with easy to operate halyard locks for all headsails and the Main. In September 2017 her mast was stepped down for the 5 year service of the EC6 rigging and fully serviced. The sail wardrobe has been designed and developed in close cooperation between the North Lofts in Spain and the UK, taking advantage of the deep knowledge of the sailmakers sailing on board. Grey Goose is now a totally different boat, outperforming any other Swan 82 ever built. She demonstrates the real Swan DNA by accomplishing her missions in a perfect manner being comfortable, sea worthy and very fast. She has proven her outstanding performance in several racing events and in numerous family holidays cruises. Grey Goose is undoubtedly in outstanding mint conditions. Although many upgrades were made to improve the performance, most of them enlarge the fun factor as well in cruising like less pitching, fast acceleration and direct steering. At the end of the 2012 season, Grey Goose underwent a second extensive refit at Hinckley Yachts, Portsmouth, RI/USA. This included upgrading the standing rigging to Southern Spars EC6 continuous carbon rigging, painting the hull topsides and aft cockpit, upgrading to VSAT satellite communications, a new, fuel saving generator, as well as many other significant upgrades and improvements, including the interior, the audio- and entertainment and navigation systems. Grey Goose has been rigorously maintained by her owner to keep pace with the numerous technological advancements in luxury yacht construction since her launch. Outdated equipment has been replaced and only top of the line gear has been fitted. This gives her a modern, contemporary feel, comparable to the very latest generation of Swan yachts. Grey Goose has always been maintained by a highly professional, experienced and dedicated crew, insuring that she was always ready to take her whenever the owner wanted to sail. Her safety equipment has been updated this season, new life rafts, have been bought. There are several EPIRBS on board as well as Personal EPIRBS and PLB’s for a full racing crew, as the owner never compromises on safety. The boat comes with a 40Ft Container with workshop and storage capacity, a matching 30ft Dariel Tender with 600HP Mercury outboard engines can be purchased separately.
