Dutch design from 2nd owner The Piewiet 1000 was built by the yard Van der Rest in Kats, Zeeland (NL). This boat is from 2nd owner and has always had all the necessary maintenance and many things have been renewed since 2019. (See PDF). Uniek Woonschip met twee V-12 Dieselmotoren en Schottel-aandrijving. Uitermate geschikt voor bewoning of lange reizen naar bv. Fankrijk of Duitsland de XL12 is een uniek varend woonschip voor de binnen-, alsook voor de kustwateren. Het is relatief laag gebouwd (minimale doorvaarthoogte: 3.50 meter) met de bedoeling om vrijwel geheel Europa te kunnen bevaren. in Nederland kan ze prima uit de voeten, op vrijwel alle binnenwater en ook op de Waddenzee richting de eilanden. Ook Duitsland, rondom Berlijn, en de Rijn is te bevaren. Het schip heeft een Rijn-certificaat dus ook rivier-op is toegestaan. Frankrijk is door geringe hoogte en maximale breedte van 4.90 te bevaren. met andere woorden: 'ze is uitermate geschikt voor lange reizen en/of permanente of semipermanente bewoning.' Het schip is in 1970 gebouwd op de werf van /"Schottel-Nederland B.V./" te Warmond. Het is één van de weinige Schottel aangedreven schepen die nooit in overheidsdienst heeft gevaren. ze is gebouwd voor een Duitse klant en voer met personeel, een kapitein en matroos, die een aparte woonruimte in het vooronder hadden. De huidige eigenaren wonen sinds 2012 aan boord en hebben uitgebreide reizen gemaakt door Europa, met in de winter een ligplaats in Zwartsluis. Het Casco is gebouwd in Cortenstaal, wat de eigenschap heeft dat er een oxidehuid ontstaat wat verdere roestvorming tegengaat. De opbouw is van Aluminium. Mede door deze materialen is het onderhoud aan romp, dek en opbouw relatief eenvoudig. De voorstuwing bestaat uit 2 onafhankelijke lijnen, het schip heeft twee, 12-cilinder dieselmotoren met elk ca. 412 PK, deze drijven elk een Schottel (roerpropellor) aan, de besturing geschiedt dus zonder roer, maar d.m.v. de schroeven die elk 360 graden kunnen draaien, waardoor de manoeuvreer eigenschappen van het schip uitzonderlijk goed zijn. De XL12 heeft onderdeks 3 hutten, 2 met een tweepersoons bed (2.00 x 1.60 en 2.00 x 1.40) en één met een stapelbed 2.00 x 60 (voorin waar vroeger bemanningsruimte was) ook onderdeks is de ruime natte cel met toilet, zitbad en aparte douche, en apart nog een toiletruimte met elektrisch toilet, aangesloten op de Vuilwatertank. Bovendeks is de ruime salon annex stuurhuis met aan beide zijden deuren om makkelijk vanaf de stuurstand naar buiten te lopen. Achter de salon is de ruime keuken, van alle gemakken voorzien (Vaatwasser, grote koelkast en separate diepvries). Het schip is voorzien van een Cv-installatie. Achter de kombuis is het grote achterdek, verdeeld in twee secties, een zitgedeelte onder een ruime kuiptent en een zitgedeelte waar ook een kleine auto geparkeerd kan worden.
